Excitement as Muslims welcome Sheikh Kiruuta at Masaka main mosque

Former Masaka district Kadhi under the leadership of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) has been given a hero’s welcome today at Masaka main mosque where he had gone to attend Juma prayers.

Recently, Shiekh Badru Wasajja Kiruuta crossed from the UMSC leadership and joined the Kibuli based leadership of the Supreme Mufti. Today was his first time to attend Juma prayers at the Masaka main mosque which is under the leadership Sheikh Sulait Hamis Ssentongo whose allegiance is with the Kibuli leadership. Ssentongo welcomed Sheikh Kiruuta vowing to work together to develop the Muslim community in the Masaka region.

“I have known Sheikh Kiruuta for a long time right from school as my student and I know him as a hard-working individual. I know we can work very well together, ” Ssentongo said.

For his part, Sheikh Kiruuta thanked Allah for enabling him attend Juma prayers at the main mosque after a long time.
” I am very happy that I am here after a long period of time. I thank Allah who has made this arrangement for me. I assure you; this is not going to be my last Juma here,” Kiruuta said.

Kudra Mwanje who is in charge of functions in the office of the Supreme Kadhi said that he is happy that Sheikh Kiruuta crossed to the Kibuli leadership adding that he was finding it hard to introduce him at functions they hold at the main mosque and other places because of his affiliation with the Old Kampala based leadership.
