In recognition of its commitment to academic distinction, the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) has been crowned at the prestigious East Africa Brand Quality Awards 2025, securing two of the highest accolades in the region’s education sector.

The university was honored with the Platinum Award for the Best Private University in East Africa, a top-tier recognition that places it at the apex of private higher education in the region. Complementing this supreme award was the Seal of Quality Excellence, a testament to IUIU’s adherence to superior standards in its educational delivery and institutional operations.

The honours were received by a team of campus directors, including Associate Prof. Hajjat Madina Nabukeera from the Females Campus in Kabojja, Dr. Twaha Ahmed Kasule from the Kampala Campus, and Associate Professor Yasin Olum from the Arua Campus. The Main Campus in Mbale was represented by the Academic Registrar, Dr. Adam Ali.

The timing of this recognition could not be more symbolic. These awards arrive on the heels of the university’s recent announcement of the inauguration of its state-of-the-art Faculty of Engineering, a monumental project completed in September this year. For the university leadership, the awards are a validation of their strategic vision and relentless effort.

This dual victory serves as a morale booster, underscoring that IUIU’s model of education is not only impactful locally but is also being celebrated on a continental stage.

Established by an Act of Parliament, IUIU operates with a unique semi-government nature, blending public oversight with institutional agility. Its performance, praised for being rooted in strong discipline and moral values, has made it a unique fixture in East Africa’s educational landscape. The university has built a reputation for producing holistic graduates individuals who are not only academically proficient but also ethically grounded.
