Love smitten German national embraces Islam

By Ahmed Idriss
Detlvududo Dietsch, a German national, has embraced Islam and adopted the name Ibrahim. A resident of Kitende A Cell in Kitende Ward, Kajjansi Town Council, he officially declared his Shahadah (testimony of faith) on Friday before Sheikh Murshid Luwemba, the Secretary for Islamic Propagation at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC).
Sharing his journey to Islam, Ibrahim revealed that he felt a divine calling to Uganda. “I have been coming to Uganda because Allah asked me to come. I was in Hotel Africana with my wife when I prayed, and Allah spoke to me, saying all goodness comes from Uganda,” he recounted.
Ibrahim first visited Uganda in 2004 as a Christian and has continued traveling between Uganda and Germany. As a business consultant, he has supported Ugandans aspiring to start businesses by connecting them with opportunities in Germany. “I take them to Germany, where they learn and then return to invest here,” he explained.
Driven by a vision for economic empowerment, Ibrahim expressed his desire to uplift Ugandans through business. “My prayer is to make Ugandans prosperous. In East Germany, everything was available—food, medicine, and social amenities. I want to help Ugandans achieve financial success,” he said.
Ibrahim is married to a Ugandan woman, Faridah, whom he met in Ganda, Nansana, last year. Their friendship began when her husband invited him for a meal. “Unfortunately, her husband passed away in August last year, and we became very good friends until we decided to marry,” he shared.
Reflecting on his experiences in Uganda, Ibrahim acknowledged the challenges of finding genuine companionship. “I met many Ugandan women who were only interested in money and securing a visa to my country. But Faridah is different—she is a good woman,” he noted.
