Malls/arcades in Kampala’s central business district with mosques named
On Monday March 11, 2024, Muslims around the world embarked on fasting the holy month of Ramathan – a period of self-restriction, prayer and subjugation of one’s self to the will of Allah. It is a time for prayer, with many hours spent in mosques by able believers.
Kampala’s Central Business District (CBD) has a number of mosques or prayer rooms located on malls/arcades that many – especially travelers might not be aware of. The Friday Call has compiled a list of the malls/arcades in the CBD to enable you have that place to spend time supplicating to Allah during and after the month of Ramathan.
Some of these mosques may be big enough to hold Jumah prayers.

Hanifah Towers, Yamaha Centre, Paaka Enkadde Mall, Mutaasa Kafeero, Energy Centre, King Fahad Plaza, Cooper Complex, Mukwano Arcade, Magoba Shopping Centre, Kooki Building, Ham Shopping Mall, Owino Market (3 Prayer Places), Kisekka Market (About 3 Places), New Taxi Park, Bazannyanengo, Shawuliyako, Gaggawala, Kiyembe, JBK, Kirumira Towers, White House Kikuubo, Royal Complex, Astonia Hotel, Equatorial Mall and Greenland Bank Building.
Others are Cham Towers, Slow Boat restaurant, Parliament of Uganda, Oasis Mall Basement, Imperial Royale Hotel (5th Floor), Jikon Restaurant, SB Building, Boost House, MM plaza, Lions shopping arcade, Kalungi plaza (last floor), Sun City Arcade, Arua Park Plaza, Arua Park, Temusewo Mpoza Building, Faibah Building, Royal Plaza, Grand Corner, Majestic Plaza (Roof Top), Nalubwama Arcade and Qualicel Building.
There are also a number of established mosques in the CBD including Nakasero, Market Street, the National Mosque at Old Kampala, Masjid Musa (Hotel Africana), Kibuli, Wandegeya, and Makerere University among others.
