Mubaje blames online counsellors for collapsing marriages

by Issa Kigongo

The Mufti, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has advised Muslim couples to disregard social media-based marriage counsellors whose content, he said, is shallow and devoid of useful spirituality.

Presiding over the wedding of Fahad Byansi and Fazira Tabaro Mikidad, held at Lwenitakuli, Ssembabule district, Sheikh Mubaje blamed the online counsellors for the increasing cases of breakups in marriages.

“In most cases, those marriage counsellors are indeed products of failed marriages, and have, in turn, caused many marriages to collapse,” Sheikh Mubaje said.

He advised the newlywed couple to build trust for one another if they are to enjoy a blissful marriage and pledged to provide more guidance, having taken charge of their memorable life journey by officiating at their Nikkah. The Mufti lauded Byansi for picking his bride from Rwanda, saying, cross-border marriages are vital in promoting the integration of East African nations.

Mubaje hailed President Yoweri Museveni for his firm stance against LGBTQ vices in Uganda, despite the threats from foreign countries, citing the recent debate in the UK House of Lords where some members called for regime change in Uganda over the enactment of the Anti-Homosexuality Act.
