The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, has emphasized the need for unity and collaboration to drive progress within the Muslim community. He made the remarks during the groundbreaking ceremony for the Sheikh Waleed Asharad Lecture Room Block at the Islamic University College (IUC), held at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) headquarters on Friday.

The eight-classroom block, funded by Insan Charity and Sheikh Waleed Asharad of Kuwait, marks an expansion of educational infrastructure for both Muslim students and the wider public.

This milestone, achieved during this blessed month of Ramadhan, is a clear demonstration of what we can accomplish through unity and collaboration,” Sheikh Mubaje stated.

He hailed the project as a step in enhancing learning opportunities and thanked the Kuwaiti donors for their generosity.

The Mufti also stressed the importance of high-quality construction and urged the university leadership to oversee the project closely.

“We must ensure that the work is done to the highest standards. Let us not settle for subpar construction. I encourage you to inspect the buildings to guarantee their durability,” he emphasized.

Dr. Idris Abdallah, Vice Chancellor of IUC, commended Sheikh Waleed Asharad for his generosity and dedication to advancing education in Uganda.

“This construction is the result of the strong partnership between UMSC and Insan Charity. When the Mufti led a delegation to Kuwait in 2024, discussions were held with Insan Charity, and now we’re witnessing the fruits of that engagement,” Dr. Abdallah said.

The construction is expected to be completed in approximately three months.
