Mubaje Preaches Love as Rukungiri Gets Kadhi

Sheikh Abdul Malik Kayole Byaruhanga effectively took charge as the pioneer district Kadhi for Rukungiri at a colourful event held on January 8, at Rukungiri mosque in Rwenkuba cell, Rukungiri Municipality.

Byaruhanga’s oath of office was administered by the Mufti, Sheikh Shaban Ramathan Mubaje who urged Muslim leaders to promote peaceful co-existence.

“We need to spread the message of love and understanding among our people to enhance development,” Mubaje said as he dug into the ideals of the inter-religious council of Uganda (IRCU); a non-governmental organization that was formed to promote common good across regardless of one’s religious beliefs.

“Work together, put the rest aside and focus on developing yourselves. Why should we fight? What is killing us is selfishness but remember two heads are better than one. Put your differences aside, that’s when you will develop,” Mubaje said.

“You must be a servant, not a boss. These people badly need your services therefore be there for them all the time. I want to find a changed place on my next visit, don’t relax you must work for these people,” the Mufti advised the District Kadhi.

In a message read for him by Security Minister, Gen Jim Muhwezi, President Yoweri Museveni urged religious leaders to sensitize their followers on the importance of embracing government programmes. He said that Ugandans should not relax and neglect government programs that are meant to improve their household incomes.

On his part, Muhwezi hailed the Muslims for developing a strategic plan comprising the construction of a business mall in the heart of Rukungiri municipality for generating income in addition to the construction of schools and a spacious mosque that can accommodate the growing number of Muslim faithful in the area.
