Nazima Aisha Muhammad, a Hafidhul Quran and student at Nabisunsa Girls School in Kampala, emerged as the best in the recitation of the Holy Quran during the fourth graduation ceremony of the Theology Idaad graduates held at the school premises.

Out of 20 graduates, 10 students passed with first-class honors, seven secured second-class honors, and three attained third-class honors.

Nabisunsa Girls School launched this program in 2019, and to date, 75 students have benefited from it. The initiative enables students to sit for national Islamic theological examinations at the O-Level/Idaad level, set by the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) under UNECIT—the Uganda National Examination Committee for Idaad and Thanawi.

Ambassador Dr. Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu, Uganda’s Envoy to Khartoum, who officiated the ceremony, urged parents to support their daughters spiritually and academically to help them compete globally. He emphasized the importance of equipping young women with essential skills such as problem-solving, communication, and decision-making in today’s competitive world.

“Having a daughter is a test for parents—it can become a gift or a disaster. When parents educate their daughters well, raising them to be devout, principled Muslim women, it becomes the most beautiful gift. However, if they fail to do so, it may bring disgrace to the family and the Ummah. Therefore, every parent must prioritize their daughter’s education, guided by the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH),” said Dr. Ssemuddu.

In recognition of her outstanding performance, the guest of honor awarded Nazima Aisha Muhammad one million shillings as a prize. He also presented each graduate with an envelope containing Ugx 100,000 for their commendable achievements.

Dr. Ssemuddu further advised religious education authorities to unite under a single examination board. Currently, two separate bodies—the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) and the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC)—oversee Islamic theological examinations.
