Nabisunsa Girls SS embarks on multi-billion shilling projects
Nabisunsa Girls Secondary School has embarked on the construction of two major projects including a new dormitory and the school gate.
The new dormitory is estimated to cost Ush 7.6 billion and will accommodate 980 students.
According to Hajjati Zulaika Nabukeera Kabuye, the Headmistress, Nabisunsa Girls Secondary School, the institution has not got any loans out of the required money. The new dormitory is expected to be a bigger and a better place for the O level learners.
“In January 2025, the construction will be half way the structure and KCCA will provide a temporary residence permit. The learners will be able to use the ground and first floor for accommodation,” Nabukeera said.
The senior one parents on admission this year were able to contribute Ush 60 million for the new dormitory’s construction.
Meanwhile, the Old Girls Association of Nabisunsa is spearheading the construction of the school’s main gate.
The gate is estimated to cost Ush 380 million and the money is being contributed largely by the old students.
According to the school Headmistress, Nabisunsa is among the great 8 (G8) schools in the country and the main entrance will be constructed to befit the status of the school.
Nabisunsa was founded in 1954 by Prince Badru Kakungulu to offer post-primary education to the Muslim girl-child. Today it admits girls of all faiths.
