Sheikh Kigozi Sworn In Amidst Calls for Unity and Development

Sheikh Erias Kigozi has officially assumed the position of the substantive Kadhi of Wakiso Muslim district. The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Wakiso Muslim district headquarters in Kaliiti on Saturday and was presided over by Prime Minister Robinah Nabanja, who represented President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

During the ceremony, Prime Minister Nabanja presented a brand new double cabin truck donated by President Museveni to the office of the Kadhi. Additionally, she injected Shillings 10 million into the Wakiso Muslim District Sacco.

In his written speech, President Museveni urged Sheikh Kigozi and his team to prioritize unity and cooperation among their followers. “I want to encourage the new leaders to work for the harmony and unity of their The primary goal of leadership is unity and cooperation with your followers. It’s on the account of promoting unity that the NRM government has been able to usher in peace, development, and prosperity across the country.,” Museveni said.

He added “The legitimate interests of the people are known cloth, electricity, market, and health services. The NRM government has been able to create an enabling environment to promote the legitimate interests of Ugandans.” Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, praised Sheikh Kigozi for his excellent mobilization skills, evident by the large turnout of people at the inauguration.

He commended Sheikh Kigozi for initiating various projects that have benefited the Muslim community in the district and called on Muslims to continue supporting him in his endeavors. The Mufti also expressed gratitude to the government for its support of Muslim projects. “The only missing gap is the Parish Development Program-PDM that isn’t benefiting Muslims because of the component of interest rate. We shall soon present the government with a similar program for funding,” he said.

After taking his oath, Sheikh Kigozi thanked the Mufti for entrusting young leaders like him with important positions. “Some people think youths can’t lead but you have trusted us with positions of leadership. We found a lot of disunity among Muslims and people of other faiths but we have fought hard to unite our people,” he said.

Sheikh Kigozi highlighted some of his achievements including the construction of the district offices, fixing boreholes in the community, and the construction of Abu Hamza Health Center, and requested the government’s support in equipping the facility to serve the local community. In response, Nabanjja promised to handle the issue of the health facility. “That is a small issue I can handle on my own I will not take that to the president. I wish I had known earlier before coming here I would have done the needful,” she said.
