Sheikh Mulindwa Swears in as Substantive Kadhi

Sheikh Ramadhan Swaib Mulindwa has taken oath as the substantive Kadhi of Luwero Muslim district. Sheikh Mulindwa, who has been serving in an acting capacity since 2019 when he replaced Sheikh Mustafa Lule following his appointment as East Buganda Regional Kadhi was sworn in on Saturday, March 18th at Luwero Muslim district at Kasana.

Shortly after taking his oaths of allegiance and secrecy under the guidance of the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) Independent Electoral Commission chairperson, Omar Weswa, Sheikh Mulindwa outlined the Action plan of his administration.

He outlined the Redevelopment of the District Headquarters, the establishment of a Skilling center for youth and women, poverty alleviation, lobbying support for Luwero Muslim Secondary School, and redevelopment of counties and local mosques as key priority areas of his administration.

Speaking at the same gathering, the Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, urged parents to educate and instill Islamic religious values among their children, saying it is the only way to protect them from evil vices such as homosexuality, which is fast spreading among the young people. “We have to safeguard our children from all evil practices,” he said.

In his speech delivered by the prime minister, Robinah Nabbanja, president, Yoweri Museveni reminded Muslims and all Ugandans to take advantage of the various poverty alleviation programs such as the Parish Development Model –PDM to fight poverty in their households. “PDM caters to all categories of the citizens such as women, youth, the elderly, and disabled,” he said.

Nabbanja promised to present a report detailing Sheikh Mulindwa’s Action plan to the President for possible financial support. She later handed over a brand new vehicle to the newly installed Kadhi to ease his movements as he executes his official duties in the community. the President also donated Shillings 10 Million to the Kadhi’s revolving Fund, which Muslims can borrow without interest, and Shillings 5 Million to the Kadhi’s office
