Sheikh Salim Bbosa Appointed UMSC Deputy Sharia Director
Sheikh Salim Bbosa is the Acting Deputy Sharia Director at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) pending approval by the National Executive Committee and College of Eminent Sheikhs alias Majlis Al Ulama Committee.
According to a brief statement issued by the UMSC Spokesperson, Zziwa Ashiraf on Tuesday, the management committee chaired by the Mufti Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje made the appointment in its last weekly meeting convened early in the day.
Sheikh Bbosa, who is the current Imam at MM Plaza in Kampala and one of the celebrated Muslim preachers holds a Master’s Degree in Sharia – Islamic Law from Imaam Mohammad Bin Saudi Islamic University in Riyadh in the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Once approved, he will deputise Dr. Ziyad Swalleh Lubanga, who holds a Ph.D. in Sharia from the Islamic University of Madina also in the Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Sharia Director oversees the Sharia court at UMSC, which handles various issues including marriage registration, and arbitration of disputes, and offers Islamic rulings in consultation with the office of the Mufti among others.
