UCE: How Muslim Schools Performed

Little-known Katende Progressive Vocational Secondary School in Mpigi registered 100 per cent 1st-grade scores, an analysis of the 2022 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examination results reveals.

According to the results that were released on Thursday by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB), the school had all its candidates who sat for last year’s UCE finals passed in first grade.

Further analysis of the results with a particular focus on known Muslim-founded schools puts Kawempe Muslim Secondary School ahead of the traditional Muslim schools with 266 out of its 341 candidates passing in first grade.
Kibuli SS presented 349 candidates of whom 260 passed in first grade while 108 passed in second grade.

Nabisunsa Girls SS had 225 of its 290 candidates passing with a first grade and 61 in second grade.

Butambala’s academic giant, Gombe SS had 222 first grades and 49 second grades while Masaka Secondary School in Masaka City registered 187 first grades and 207 second grades. It had 499 candidates – the highest number among Muslim-founded schools.

Hamza Islamic School in Luweero garnered eight first grades while the Mukono-based Umar B.A Islamic High School registered 32 first grades17 second grades. Mbogo High School got 76 first grades, five more than its sister school, Mbogo Mixed SS which got 71 first grades and 119 second grades.

Wanyana Nashiba of the Kibuli-based Kakungulu Memorial School passed with 8 Aggregates

Greenlight Islamic High School, Nansana, git 85 first grades and 119 second grades. Bilal Islamic SS, Bwaise, had 48 candidates passing in first grade while 70 settled for second grade. Nyendo Mixed SS in Masaka city had 9 first grades and 14 passed in second grade.
Lowell Girls School got 39 first grades and 15 passed in second grade.
