Viral video earns Ugandan officer dream trip to Mecca

Traffic Officer Abdallah Tusiime’s luck changed forever when a video of him braving a heavy downpour while on duty went viral on social media. Recognized by Parliament for his dedication to work, Tusiime has now been awarded a free, first-class trip to Mecca, courtesy of Tumah Travels.
The video, captured by a passerby, showed officer Tusiime standing steadfast in the torrential rain, directing traffic with precision and patience. His selfless act caught the attention of Ugandans nationwide, earning him widespread praise.
Impressed by his commitment, Tumah Travels, a Muslim fraternity offering Hajj and Umrah services, decided to reward Tusiime with an unforgettable journey to Islam’s holiest site.
“We saw the viral video and wanted to appreciate Officer Tusiime’s exceptional service,” said Yakub Mayanja, Executive Director of Tumah Travels. “As Muslims, we believe in rewarding good deeds, and this trip is a token of our appreciation.”
Sheikh Mushin Kitti, Head of Hajj and Umrah affairs at Tumah Travels, praised Tusiime’s dedication. “This officer’s selflessness is an inspiration to us all. We hope his story motivates others to serve with passion and integrity.”

For Tusiime, the trip to Mecca is a dream come true. “As a Muslim, visiting Mecca is a lifelong aspiration. I’m humbled by this blessing and promise to continue serving my country with dedication.”
Tusiime’s trip to Mecca is set for December 2024. He will join other pilgrims from Uganda and worldwide for the sacred Umrah ritual.
