Gen Moses Ali: Stop mocking my health
By Jafar Mugera
In a speech after Jumah (Friday) prayers at Parliament, the 2nd Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, Gen Moses Ali, made an emotional plea to Ugandans to stop mocking his health.
The 85-year-old West Adjumani member of Parliament, and patron of the Muslim parliamentary caucus expressed concern over social media users who have in the recent past been pronouncing him dead.
This, Gen Ali told the congregation, forced him to publicly show his vitality by dancing at a public event in Adjumani district, in June this year, a video of which went viral on social media eliciting mixed reactions from the public.
“I danced at that function because I wanted the public to know that I am still alive; not dead as some had been saying because a dead man cannot dance,” Gen Ali said.
He thanked Allah for regaining his speech, albeit with difficulty, after falling ill early in 2022.
“I could hardly say anything, I was dumb. I was taken to Turkey where I stayed [in hospital] for some time, and when it was time to come back, I was given a sackful of drugs,” he shared. “I am happy that I can now speak,” he added.
He appealed for prayers for improved health as he prepares to travel to Munich, Germany for a medical review.
