Libyan clerics to lead Taraweh prayers in mosques around Kampala
Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda, on Tuesday welcomed a delegation comprising nineteen Muslim clerics from Libya. Led by Utaz Salem Omami, the delegation’s visit is part of the Holy Month of Ramadan Program coordinated by Dr. Ebraheem Ssali, Executive Secretary of the African Forum for Muslim Councils, in conjunction with the Libyan Foreign Affairs and Islamic Religious Affairs Ministry.
Mubaje expressed gratitude to the visiting clerics for choosing to share the words of Allah with fellow believers during the sacred month of Ramadan.
“You have indeed exemplified the true sense of brotherhood,” Mubaje remarked.
This program is designed to be held in Uganda, Senegal, and Niger.
Utaz Salem Omami expressed gratitude to the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) for their hospitality and for allowing them to serve in the divine path of Almighty Allah.
According to the activity schedule, members of the delegation will lead Taraweeh prayers in various mosques around the Kampala Muslim Region during Ramadan, and will also sponsor Iftar meals at these mosques for the remaining days of Ramadan.
UMSC and Libya share long standing relations, exemplified by the funding of the National Mosque by Muammar Gadhafi, the former leader of the Maghreb country.
