Jamuliro Yusuf has emerged as the Eastern Region winner of the Omumanyi wa Salam TV quiz competition, beating more than 40 contestants in a contest that tested participants on their knowledge and understanding.

The competition was held at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Main Campus in Mbale and brought together young people from across the region.

After several rounds of questions, Yusuf finished at the top and earned a fully sponsored Umrah package, along with other prizes.

The event was attended by State Minister for Public Service Lydia Wanyoto Mutende, who joined Muslim leaders, academics, community representatives, sponsors and contestants. She commended the organisers and pledged her support for the initiative.

Salam TV Managing Director Hajji Karim Kaliisa said competitions such as Omumanyi give young people an opportunity to learn while engaging with one another.

He commended the contestants for their commitment throughout the competition and said initiatives that promote knowledge and positive engagement among young people should be encouraged.

Dr Jamilu Serwanga, IUIU Vice Rector in charge of Academic Affairs, also urged the contestants to continue pursuing knowledge beyond the competition.

While Yusuf took home the top prize, the organisers also recognised the other contestants, with each participant receiving a prize for taking part in the competition.

The competition now moves to Western Uganda, with the next regional contest scheduled for October 17, 2026, at Bwikya Hill in Hoima City.
