Mufti Lauds UK Think-Tank

Sheikh Shaban Ramadhan Mubaje, the Mufti of Uganda has praised Muslim intellectuals behind the establishment of Dimensions for Strategic Studies (DSS) a thinktank based in the United Kingdom (UK), founded to produce research papers, providing analysis and deep understanding of the different issues for policy and decision-makers.
In a speech delivered for him by the second deputy Mufti, Sheikh Muhammad Ali Waiswa, at a farewell dinner hosted by the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) for the think tank’s Muhammad Sarmini and Muhammad Al Faki at Haandi Restaurant in Kampala, Sheikh Mubaje observed that many Muslim projects which have in the past attracted a lot of funding have collapsed due to poor planning.
βThe idea of the DSS rolling out their planned activities in Uganda is highly welcome,β he said, pledging closer cooperation between DSS and UMSC.
On their side, Muhammad Sarmini and Muhammad Al Faki explained that their dream was to find solutions for the survival of future generations, further disclosing that among their planned activities is to address the plight of refugees. They thanked the Ugandan government for offering a safe haven to various nationals fleeing their countries for various reasons.
The IUIU rector, Prof. Ismail Simbwa Gyagenda, praised the idea of a think tank and welcomed DSS-planned programs in Uganda. He said that the reason why the Muslim world lags behind in many spheres of influence is the absence of centres where the cream of the society can sit and exchange developmental ideas.
