Ummah Games: Uniting Muslims through sport

Muslim Journalists Taqqaddum Sacco’s football team that competed in the inaugural Ummag Games at the IUIU Female campus, Kabojja, on August 30. The games will resume on September 27

The inaugural Ummah Games kicked off on August 30 at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Female Campus in Kabojja, near Kampala, bringing together Muslim organisations, institutions and professionals in a new initiative aimed at promoting unity, healthy living, talent development and social interaction through sport.

The initiative, which has attracted participation from various players within the Muslim community, seeks to use sport as a platform to bring Muslims together beyond their usual institutional and professional spaces.

Teams from IUIU, Uganda Halal Bureau, One Ummah Uganda, Strive for Jannah Foundation, Kibuli Muslim Hospital and Muslim Journalists Taqaddum Sacco Ltd, among others, competed in football, netball, volleyball, athletics and other sporting disciplines.
