Twinbrook Schools are champions at inaugural Muslim Primary Schools Sports Gala

Twinbrook Schools were crowned overall champions of the inaugural Muslim Primary Schools Sports Gala after an impressive all-round performance at the competition held on Sunday at the school’s grounds in Bamba, Nangabo in Wakiso district.

The one-day gala brought together Muslim-founded primary schools from across the country in a celebration of sportsmanship, talent and unity.

Participating schools included hosts Twinbrook Schools, AbdulSalam Islamic Center, Kira Junior School, Sweet Valley Islamic Primary School and Emam Junior School.

Pupils competed in a wide range of disciplines, including boys’ and girls’ football, basketball, netball, athletics, swimming, chess and table tennis.

The overall winner was determined by the total points accumulated across all events. Twinbrook Schools topped the standings with 760 points, comfortably securing the inaugural title.

AbdulSalam Islamic Center finished second with 560 points, followed by Sweet Valley Islamic Primary School on 450 points. Kira Junior School placed fourth with 320 points, while Emam Junior School finished fifth with 250 points.

Although Twinbrook dominated the overall standings, AbdulSalam Islamic Center excelled in several team events, emerging champions in boys’ football, netball and athletics.

Twinbrook Schools, meanwhile, swept the swimming, basketball, chess and table tennis competitions, while also claiming the girls’ football title to underline their dominance across multiple disciplines.

Thegala was intended to promote sports, teamwork and friendship among Muslim primary schools while providing young learners with an opportunity to showcase their talents. Following the success of the inaugural edition, the event is expected to become an annual fixture on the schools’ sporting calendar.
