Ummah Games 2026 expands into Corporate League and Youth Sports Gala

The Ummah Games Initiative has launched its 2026 season, rolling out a dual-track strategy designed to unite Uganda’s Muslim community through fitness, youth development, and corporate networking.
This year’s edition expands the movement into two distinct tiers: the Ummah Corporate Games for businesses and professional organizations, and the Muslim Primary Schools Sports Gala for the next generation of athletes.
According to a statement, “the movement aims to transcend traditional sports by celebrating faith-based identity, combating employee burnout, and amplifying Muslim narratives across Uganda’s professional and educational landscapes.”
NURTURING THE NEXT GENERATION
Before the corporate tournament kicks off, the initiative will turn its focus toward younger athletes by hosting a one-day Muslim Primary Schools Sports Gala at Twinbrook Primary School in Nangabo on July 18, 2026.
Designed to combat youth disengagement and instill values of discipline and teamwork early in life, the gala will feature a mix of physical and mental challenges. Young students will compete in football, swimming, and basketball, alongside chess tournaments and child-friendly team games.
Organizers view the event as a purpose-driven experience that connects sportsmanship with spiritual values while providing a high-visibility platform for schools to showcase local talent.
THE CORPORATE LEAGUE
Following the youth gala, the attention will shift to the professionals.
Starting July 26, 2026, and continuing every last Sunday of the month through December, the Ummah Corporate Games will take place at the Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU) Female Campus in Kabojja.
The six-month league is open exclusively to Islamic-founded companies, institutions, higher learning centers, and charitable organizations. To encourage corporate wellness and provide an antidote to workplace burnout, the league will feature standard disciplines like football, netball, basketball, and athletics, alongside traditional community favorites like tug-of-war and sack races.
Crucially, the league is built to double as a business development facility for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). Participating institutions will gain dedicated brand exposure through digital media channels, including the initiative’s YouTube show and the Ummah Means Business podcast.
Furthermore, “Themed Market Days” will be hosted throughout the season, granting companies exclusive exhibition space to pitch directly to a concentrated audience of Muslim professionals and consumers.
“Our mission is to inspire, unite, and empower,” the Ummah Games Secretariat said in a statement. “We are creating a space where a CEO can network with a peer on the sidelines of a football pitch, where SMEs can find their next 1,000 customers, and where our children can see that excellence in faith and excellence in sport go hand-in-hand.”
The six-month season will culminate in December 2026 with a Grand Awarding Ceremony, where trophies will be handed out not only for athletic victories but also for exceptional sportsmanship and community impact.
